What is the venue?

Pyrgos Melissourgou is a historic and stunning wedding venue located in Lagonisi, near Athens. It is set on a 60‑acre estate featuring one of Greece’s oldest private residences, dating back to the 17th century, with panoramic sea views and beautiful gardens.

What is the weather like?

In September in Athens, you can expect generally warm, pleasant weather. With highs of 29°during the day and lows of 20°in the evening.

Is the wedding outdoor or indoor?

The wedding is planned to be held outdoors; however, in the event of adverse weather conditions, it may be moved indoors.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We kindly request that all guests dress in formal evening wear. Tuxedos or formal suits for gentlemen; glamorous dresses or elegant formal attire for ladies. As the wedding will be outdoors, we recommend bringing anything you may need to stay comfortable, such as sunscreen, sunglasses, or a shawl for the evening if needed.

Are heels appropriate for the event?

Absolutely, heels are welcome. The venue's ground surface is hard, the only area with grass is the dining area, however we will provide heel protectors on the night so bring out your best pair and dress to impress. As you know the bride is all about comfort, so feel free to bring your comfy shoes for the party, so we can dance the night away!

Are children invited?

Children are very welcome at our wedding, and we would love to have them there to celebrate with us. As the venue is large, outdoors, and includes a pool, we kindly ask that children are supervised by a parent or guardian at all times and not left unattended on the dance floor.

What is the Persian wedding ceremony?

The Persian wedding ceremony is a timeless tradition, dating back to ancient Persia and steeped in centuries of history, culture, and symbolism. A Persian wedding ceremony, known as the Aghd, is a traditional Persian marriage ritual centered around a symbolic ceremonial spread called the Sofreh-ye Aghd. The bride and groom sit behind this beautifully arranged Persian table, which is filled with items that each carry deep meaning- symbols of prosperity, health, fertility, and happiness. They face a mirror, representing a bright future, while family members perform rituals such as grinding sugar cones over the couple’s heads to symbolise sweetness in their life together. The officiant recites vows, and the bride traditionally accepts the marriage on the third request.
